National Garden of American Heroes
On July 3rd, President Donald Trump issued “Executive Order on Building and Rebuilding Monuments to American Heroes“. It includes an initiative to create the National Garden of American Heroes. The Garden will commemorate exceptional figures representing various dimensions of American life and history. A special Task Force has been created to plan and carry out this mission, chaired by the Secretary of the Interior, Mr. David L. Bernhardt. Mr. Charles Laudner has been appointed the Executive Director of the Task Force.
The public may send their suggestions of who should be included via email to americanheroesinfo@ios.doi.gov.
For us, Polish Americans, this may be a unique opportunity to bring to the public attention the works and achievements of our greatest compatriots of Polish origin who contributed most for America.
Coalition of Polish Americans is convinced that one of the defining elements of American history has been opposition to totalitarian regimes and the pursuit of freedom for all, and therefore heroes of the struggle against Soviet Communism deserve a prominent place in this American Pantheon. We decided to suggest and support Gen. Ryszard Kukliński. The letter of recommendation that we sent to Director Laudner can be found here.

Na portalu MSZ należy wybrać link “ZMIEŃ SPOSÓB GŁOSOWANIA“. Osoby, które nie dokonają zawiadomienia bądź dokonają tego po dniu 29 czerwca br. nie będą mogły wziąć udziału w II turze wyborów i nie zostanie do nich przesłany pakiet wyborczy.

Statement
The Board of the Coalition of Polish Americans at its meeting on April 2, 2020 decided to support Dr. Andrzej Duda, the current President of the Republic of Poland, in the upcoming presidential election. It is our conviction that the election should take place before expiration of President Duda’s current term. We support voting by mail as a safe solution under the current circumstances. We expect that the global crisis caused by the virus epidemic will not exclude Polonia from participation in the elections in Poland.

Koalicja Polonii Amerykańskiej na zebraniu zarządu w dniu 2 kwietnia 2020 roku postanowiła udzielić poparcia w wyborach prezydenckich w Polsce Panu Dr Andrzejowi Dudzie, obecnemu Prezydentowi Rzeczypospolitej Polskiej. Wyrażamy przekonanie, że wybory powinny odbyć się przed upływem bieżącej kadencji Prezydenta Dudy. Popieramy przeprowadzenie głosowania w bezpiecznej formie korespondencyjnej. Spodziewamy się, że światowy kryzys wywołany epidemią wirusa nie stanie na przeszkodzie udziałowi Polonii świata w wyborach w Polsce.
Statement
At its March 5, 2020 meeting, the Board of Coalition of Polish Americans expressed deep concern over new attempts to attribute the perpetration of the Katyn massacre to Germany. We condemn the content provided on this topic by the Russian agency RIA in the article of March 5, 2020. The Katyn massacre was committed on the explicit order of Joseph Stalin’s of March 5, 1940. We appeal to the Polish authorities to take a position on this matter.

Considering the symbolism of the Polish Sejm resolution which defend the historical truth regarding the invasion of Poland by Soviet Russia in September 1939, in cooperation with Hitler’s Germany, we strongly oppose the act of political vandalism by a senior MP, Janusz Korwin-Mikke. We believe that those who deny the aggression of Poland by Soviet Russia in 1939, act against the Polish right of state, and therefore do not belong in public space. MP Korwin-Mikke should be expelled from The Confederation. We call upon the Confederation to support positive changes introduced in Poland since 2015.

CPA supports provisions in US NDAA 2020 of sanctions related to Nord Stream 2

Coalition of Polish Americans strongly supports provisions included in the NDAA FY 2020 conference report that would impose sanctions with respect to provision of certain vessels for the construction of the Nord Stream 2 pipeline. As an organization representing Polish Americans we are very concerned that the construction of this pipeline would exacerbate the dependence of several European countries on Russian gas exports and would greatly diminish the energy security of Poland and Europe. We strongly support passage of these provisions.
“Poland First to Fight” International Scientific Conference

Invaded in September 1939 by Hitler’s Germany and later by Stalin’s Soviet Russia, Poland was the first country forced to fight in its defense in the Second World War.
Coalition of Polish Americans is proud to have co-organized the “Poland First to Fight” International Scientific Conference, in the prestigeous National Press Club in Washington. DC, on November 18-20, 2019. Its purpose was to bring many historical, little-known facts to the public knowledge.
2nd Annual CPA Convention
2nd Annual Convention of the CPA took place on November 9-10 in Orchard Lake, MI. The Convention discussed the future directions for the organization, and elected the new leadership.
